- Layering: Both paints work well when layered. Start with a base color and then add the Chromoshine or Chromo Pearl on top.
- Mixing: You can mix these with other acrylics to tone down the shimmer or pearl effect if it’s too intense for what you’re working on.
- Brush vs. palette knife: Using a palette knife can give you a more textured, dynamic look, especially with the Chromoshine. Additionally, mix in an acrylic body for different consistencies.
It costs how much?
Now, let's talk about the price of Holbein Chromoshine and Chromo Pearl paints because honestly c’mon they aren't the cheapest options out there. Each bottle costs around $48, depending on where you buy them. I will say that a little goes a long way, especially with how vibrant and shimmery these paints are. So IMHO, if you’re specifically seeking this type of paint, I’d grab a tube or two. But I wouldn’t snag it just to add it to the growing art supply collection that needs to be dusted off, ya know what I mean?
