Sketchbook Bootcamp

7 weeks to fill your sketchbook with work that actually excites you.

Join me for the perfect blend of live workshops, unique creative prompts, and an engaging, FUN community!

Here's the thing about blank pages

They're supposed to be fulllll of possibility. But somewhere along the way, they started feeling like judgment.

You open your sketchbook with good intentions, stare at it for ten minutes, then close it feeling defeated. You scroll for inspiration and end up more stuck. The gap between what's in your head and what shows up on paper is exhausting.

7 weeks of fun

How it works

Every Saturday

At 9am Pacific, we meet live. I teach techniques, we work on projects together, you ask questions. These workshops are where the magic happens! Replays included.

Saturdays

3 times per week

You get creative direction: a prompt with three difficulty levels (easy, medium, hard), plus creative playwork inspired by our live workshops.

3 times per week

The entire time

You're surrounded by a community sharing messy pages, offering feedback, and cheering you on.

The entire time

Inside the prompts

Structured enough to get you started. Loose enough to make it yours.

Every prompt comes with three levels so you can meet yourself where you are. Pick easy when you're short on time. Go hard when you want to push yourself. Switch it up week to week. The point is to keep creating, not to prove anything.

But there's more than just a single prompt:

Each prompt includes a feeling to channel (cozy? wild? melancholic?), a medium (or combo) to experiment with (e.g. monoline + pastel), a color palette to guide you, and an optional random item to throw in for fun.

Thumbs up

Did you know...

Too much creative freedom can actually freeze your brain?

When you're faced with infinite options, you end up scrolling for 30 minutes with no idea what to make.

But when you have constraints - a color palette, a focal subject, a time limit - your brain shifts into problem solving mode. You stop worrying if your idea is "good enough" and just make it work.

Constraints do not, in fact, limit creativity. They unlock it.

That's what every prompt in Sketchbook Bootcamp is designed to do.

What's on the agenda?

Make room for more art

Join Sketchbook Bootcamp

hey I'm Peggy

I made Sketchbook Bootcamp because I know what it’s like to feel creatively capable and completely stuck at the same time.

Turns out I didn’t need more inspiration. I needed structure that gave me permission to experiment without pressure.

Once I started creating inside intentional constraints, everything shifted. My ideas came back. My confidence came back. And my sketchbook started filling up with work that felt alive again.

That’s what I want for you.

What people are saying

Year after year, this is the program people ask for most...

I absolutely loved participating in Sketchbook Bootcamp! Not only did I fill an entire sketchbook with so many fun, exciting and sometimes challenging art prompts, but I also connected with an amazing community of other artists.

Laura L.

Peggy has a gift for creating an amazing all-inclusive community of people who are just beginning their creative journeys as well as professional creators...a community that is accepting, encouraging, and supportive, with a heaping helping of silliness! Thanks so much, Peggy!

Teresa T.

Peggy's prompts were fun and were good starting points for new ideas. I discovered I liked drawing something I had not spent time drawing before, and plan to create new work based around that. If it hadn't been part of a prompt, I don't know if I would have realized that.

Maria I.

Kathy C.

Peggy has a way of making all artists, regardless of skill or ability, feel welcome at Bootcamp. She’s an excellent teacher and I learn something new every time she hosts an event. The art prompts are fun and the community encouraging. I look forward to Bootcamp every year!

Sketchbook Bootcamp was a perfect mix between guidance and exploration. I'm into a lot of different media already and added even more to my range. I loved how the prompts were structured, so I could make something tiny when I was short on time, expand on that or go all in.

Nadia L.

After a Saturday session, I felt like a knot had been untied in my spirit. I feel like trying again, just to make art and not worry about art marketing. Even though I couldn't attend every session live, the recordings will continues to be an exciting inspiration. Thank you so much!

Leona A.

As weird as it sounds, this helped me to understand better the phrase "your sketchbook is to play". I logically got it, but seeing the process in real time with reflection and notetaking made it all click.

Lauren T.

Caitlin V.

Throughout the course of Sketchbook Bootcamp, I think I’ve maybe finally found my style. I’ve learned to embrace my wobbly lines and make them purposeful and stylistic.

So much fun painting with Peggy. I laughed and played and it was so relaxing. Can’t wait for the next one.

These workshops bring a lot of joy to my life. My husband and kids know that they cannot disturb me when I am having "Peggy Dean time" :)

Andrea H.

Every week in Peggy’s bootcamp brings something new, with a wide variety of mediums and techniques to explore. The weekly prompts spark creativity without pressure, and even if I don’t complete every assignment, I can return to them anytime. Peggy creates a “no-shame” environment where artists of all levels feel welcome, and the community is supportive and inspiring. I always leave motivated and excited to create, and I can’t wait for the next bootcamp!

Got a question?

A few answers before you dive in.

What time zone are the workshops in?

Live sessions are in Pacific Time. You can use Google to convert time zones.

Are replays of the live workshops available?

Of course. Live replays will be available within one day of the stream, usually within a couple hours.

Are subtitles available?

Absolutely! Both during the call and in the replays.

Do I need to be an experienced artist?

Nope. Sketchbook Bootcamp is designed to work across skill levels because the focus is on exploring ideas, practicing techniques, and building a creative rhythm that feels like yours.

You don’t need a certain style, a polished portfolio, or a sketchbook that already looks impressive. Come exactly as you are.

How much time should I plan for each week?

Plan on roughly 2–6 hours per week, depending on how much you want to dive in.

Live workshops are ~2.5 hours, and the prompts can be as quick or as involved as you want them to be.

You absolutely do not need to complete every prompt or spend hours on every page. This is meant to support your creative practice.

What if I can’t attend the live workshops?

You’re covered. Every live workshop is recorded, and you’ll have lifetime access to the replays so you can watch whenever it works for you.

The live experience is extra fun, of course, but missing a Saturday does not mean falling behind.

Do I have to complete every prompt?

Nope. Consider the prompts a creative menu. FUNwork, not homework.

You’ll get multiple directions to play with throughout Bootcamp so you can choose what sparks something that day. Skip one. Combine two. Come back to something three weeks later. Take the tiniest seed of an idea and wander off with it.

The goal is to make more art and discover what gets your brain buzzing, not earn a gold star for perfect attendance!

What supplies will I need?

We’ll explore a mix of techniques and mediums throughout Bootcamp, but you do not need to go on a shopping spree.

Use what you already have whenever possible! I’ll share any specific supplies or alternatives so you can gather what you need, and substitutions are always welcome.

Where does Bootcamp happen?

Once you join, you’ll get access to your private Bootcamp dashboard where you’ll find the live call schedule, prompts, workshop details, replays, resources, and community conversations all together.

What if I fall behind?

There really isn’t a “behind” here.

Some weeks you may make three pages. Some weeks you may make one. Some weeks life may look at you and your sketchbook and laugh right in your face. It's rude, I know.

You’ll have lifetime access to the workshops and resources, so you can keep returning to everything long after the live program wraps. Bootcamp gives you structure and momentum while we’re together, but the material is yours to keep exploring afterward.
