In this live 2.5-hour workshop, we’ll turn dimensional bisque ornaments into a loose floral collection using paint. We’ll explore color combinations and paint three floral compositions that can be adapted to whatever ornament shapes and colors you’ve chosen:
- Statement blooms: Large expressive flowers take center stage
- Floral vines: Blooms and foliage that move around the ornament
- Wildflower scatter: Small flowers, leaves, and stems with a loose all-over design
What we’ll explore
- Selecting colors that work beautifully together
- Creating loose florals with confident brush pressure and movement
- Adapting floral compositions to dimensional bisque shapes
- Working around curved surfaces without losing the flow of the design
- Using gouache or acrylic paint on bisqueware
- Correcting, finishing, and sealing your painted ornaments
What you’ll make
You’ll create a collection of hand-painted floral ornaments ready to hang, give as gifts, or bring back out year after year. Three designs will allow you to explore different creative directions.
This workshop is for you if...
You love loose florals, handmade holiday details, or the idea of turning a blank ornament into something personal. Beginners can follow the demonstrations step by step, while experienced painters can use the same compositions as a starting point for their own designs.
Supplies
- Three unglazed dimensional bisque ornaments in any shapes you like (simple is your friend! e.g. round, teardrop, oval)
- Gouache or acrylic paint
- Paintbrushes (one larger wash brush and a few small round brushes)
- Ribbon or twine for hanging
A complete supply guide and preparation notes will be waiting for you inside the workshop space before we meet live.
Live workshop and replay access
We’ll meet live on Zoom on Saturday, November 7 from 1–3:30 p.m. Pacific. Your registration also includes one year of replay access, so you can revisit the demonstrations and make more ornament collections throughout the season.
