Look what you're making!

I have really found an inspiring outlet for creativity in these folks flowers. I keep making them for my friends with custom color palettes based on my interpretation of their personalities. What a great class!!!

This class was so much fun! Peggy's instruction was very clear, but there was plenty of room for using our own ideas and creativity. I can see myself filling up whole sketchbooks using this class.

Excellent class. Learned much about folk art, and sketching. I loved the sketching part, because I find that the hardest. Really interesting stuff about color palettes as well.

I'd always felt shy about creating folk art but this class gave me so much confidence in this! I found the painting very therapeutic and the class provided me with ways to source inspiration on pinterest!

Meet your instructor

hey I'm Peggy

I'm the artist, author, educator behind The Pigeon Letters, and folk art is a style I keep coming back to because it gives you so much permission. There's no pressure to make something realistic or technically perfect. The whole aesthetic rewards boldness, flat shapes, and strong color choices, which means the things that feel like mistakes in other styles just become part of the pattern here. This class is genuinely fun to teach because students loosen up fast and the results are always more striking than they expect. I can't wait for you to dive in!

This class isĀ  perfect for you if...

  • You love botanical art but want something bolder and more graphic than traditional illustration
  • Folk art aesthetics, flat color, pattern, and strong shapes are already your thing
  • You've been curious about using watercolor and gouache together and want a real project to try it on
  • You want two finished pieces from one short class
  • You're a beginner or an experienced painter looking for a style that's genuinely different from what you usually make

Got a question?

Do I need to know how to paint?

Nope. The class covers how both watercolor and gouache works and how to use them together, so you're building as you go regardless of where you're starting from.

Do I need watercolor and/or gouache?

Either one! I play with both mediums a bit because it's fun to just work with what you have! I promise it's enough.

How long is the class?

One hour and fifteen minutes total, split across two projects. Very doable in a single afternoon.

How long will I have access?

You'll enjoy lifetime access to the course so you can learn at your own pace and revisit the content whenever you need a refresher.

I have a different question.
