We’re spending Halloween morning sketching a haunted house with crooked windows, leaning chimneys, dramatic shadows, and enough peculiar little details to suggest that something is definitely going on in there.
We’ll start with simple architectural shapes and a loose approach to perspective, then push the structure until it feels charmingly off-kilter and full of personality. This is urban sketching with permission to exaggerate, invent, and let the building tell a story.
What we’ll explore
- Breaking a building into simple shapes before adding detail
- Using perspective as a guide without losing the loose, hand-drawn energy
- Exaggerating windows, rooflines, doors, chimneys, and proportions
- Building atmosphere with expressive ink, loose watercolor, shadow, texture, and tiny storytelling details
What you’ll make
A finished haunted-house scene with a loose architectural foundation and plenty of spooky character.

This workshop is for you if...
You love sketching buildings but tend to tighten up around perspective, you want a playful reason to practice architecture, or you simply feel that Halloween deserves its own suspicious little house.
