🜃 about this one of a kind piece

Afterglow is the light that lingers after something has passed, leaving warmth behind.

The clay in this palette was never supposed to become anything. I found it during a visit to a studio kiln, leftover and forgotten, and brought it home with me. Reclaiming clay turns out to be a lot like rewetting a watercolor palette: you add water to something dried out and written off, and it comes back to life, ready to be used again. As a watercolor painter, I loved that parallel too much to pass up. Every piece in this series is made from that salvaged clay, and now it gets to hold paint that works the exact same way.

  • Size: 9.25 x 6.25"
  • Weight: 24 oz
  • Paint wells: 15 wells, each pressed by hand, so every one has its own slightly different shape
  • Speckled reclaimed clay: The flecks come from the clay's past lives. They give the palette an earthy, tactile feel that plays beautifully against the glossy white glaze.
  • Glossy white glaze: A bright white surface shows your colors true to life, and paint glides across it, so mixing feels smooth and effortless.
  • Beautifully imperfect: Reclaimed clay has a mind of its own. You'll find wobbly edges, shifts in the speckling, and little quirks from the making process, and I keep every one of them on purpose. They're the fingerprints of a handmade piece, and they mean no other palette in the world matches yours.
  • One of a kind: You'll receive the exact palette pictured.

Think of this palette as a small bridge between you, me, and the world that inspires us both. Clay that almost ended up forgotten gets a second chance to hold your colors, and every painting you make with it carries that story a little further.
